Upgrading to the mark ii

So im half way there to being able to pay for this new body however im not sure if my two lenses will work with it. I do not think my t1i grip will work on it either. I have the 50mm 1.8 and the 135 3.5. Im also looking for comparson photos taken with the 5D mark ii any input guys?

Yes, both of those lenses will work on the 5D mk II.
Any 'EF' lens will work with any EOS camera. It's the 'EF-S' lenses that you have to watch for...they will only work with the APS-C cameras (all the Rebels, 60D. 7D).

And no, I don't think your grip will work with the 5D.
Also, I believe your T1i uses SD cards? The 5D uses CF cards.

Her two lenses will work perfectly well with the 5D mkII. They may not be top quality lenses, but we all have to start somewhere. The percentage of people who can tell the quality of a lens, but looking at a print, is very low. Not everybody is an internet pixel peeker like we are.

The other option is to split the funds between a 5D original and new lenses. In general I am in the glass first bodies second camp and generally advise people to push for better quality glass to use before upgrading the camera body they are using.

However when one is moving into using a fullframe (or for that matter any other size of camera sensor/film size) I do recomend that they get the new body sooner rather than later. This is because it makes a big difference to ones shooting style and requirements. There is no point shooting and building a setup built around a 1.6 crop sensor if you are going to move to a fullframe - make the move and then make sure you can focus on building around that new sensor size instead.

My previous FF body was a 5D. The noise is very challenging in low light and poorly exposed pics. I know that forces you to take better exposures, but there is no way I could go back to a 5D. I get that part of what you are saying is get into the mind set of FF, but the OP should be aware of the NR differences too.

I agree with Schwetty here. Take the cash now and buy a quality lens. I know you have not saved the full amount, but you may be able to purchase a good quality lens.

Also, there is a possibility that the 5DmII will be a 5DmIII next year. This means saving a little longer for the camera, but you will also have the good lenses to go with it, which will make a difference for you.
Your T1i will still give you good operating time until you can afford the new camera.

Unless the camera is buying you a particular feature that you need (faster AF etc), I'm more inclined to recommend getting better glass in order to improve image quality. Allow me to demonstrate.

All images taken @ f5.6 in the same light at ISO 200 sitting on a support. Its an individual decision but IMO even lower end camera bodies of Nikon and Canon are very capable these days. What people don't realize is the impact of optics between consumer and high end. This is especially true since cameras these days are pushing the limits of even high end glass....

Besides... High quality glass usually means fast aperture to allow fun stuff like this:

EDIT. Just realized there is a slight focal length difference between the two lenses but I think everyone gets the point. Trust me, you can see the difference in quality digital outputs and quality prints.

It's buying me a FF, 21MP and ability to shoot at higher ISO. IMO it's a step up from the rebels
