Yeah...the bigger, full-frame sized, all-glass pentaprism viewfinder image of the 5D series cameras is a step up from the little,small, pentamirror Rebel bodies and their squinty viewfinders. For some people, just having the larger, clearer, more-contrasty viewfinder image improves their picture taking. I think this is especially true for people like me, who wear eyeglasses.

I dunno...the 5D-II is fairly easy on lenses...it's not "stressing" lens performance the way the smaller 1.6x Canon high-MP sensors do...every single Canon lens I have seen tested for resolution has delivered it highest resolution figures on the FULL-frame Canon's--and NOT on the crop-body cameras....so...don't worry all that much about lens quality with Canon EF lenses on the 5D-II...even with crap glass, it'll perform better on the FF body than it will on the 1.6x Rebel you're used to.

Buy the Mark II. Enjoy it! Revel in it! Sleep with it! Go out and get drunk with it. Introduce it to your friends! Write it love poems....no, wait,wait, maybe I need to back up a bit...

I love my viewfinder in my 7D. Huge difference for me, and no guessing what else or how much of it is going to end up in the photo. So one more advantage.

It really does depend on what bodies and what lenses you're comparing. Most kit lenses are notoriously unsharp. Some lenses that cost over $1000 can end up not being as sharp as a lens that costs $400.

Some bodies are only mariginal upgrades and some make a huge difference. Sensor size, FPS, and ISO performance can all play a big part in taking better photographs depending on what the person is shooting and whether or not they have the proper skill and knowledge to correctly do what they're wanting to do.

Yup.. btw... the kit lens I created samples with is far from the "worst" that I have seen... Its actually not that bad.. but when compared side by side, you can see the differences is often significant. In some cases, I have recommended people keep the kit lens and spend a little bit on some single focal / prime lenses. Some "cheap" prime lenses costing a few bucks can produce images superior to zooms that cost several times more... of course the compromise is that you loose the ability to zoom. Its a give and take...

Lens or body.. its a completely personal decision... definitely. I will say this. In my experience, people who upgraded body will be back sooner than later to see about glass. People who upgraded glass first usually hold off for a while longer until they start requiring a specific feature; (ISO, faster AF, larger files etc).

Either case... enjoy the decision... glass or body its new stuff to play with.
