Uploading to facebook?

I just tried to upload a few pics to facebook and it completely destroyed them! The photos were low key so especially they had a lot of shadows which showed all the horrible low quality pixelation and noise, it even brought out detail from the background that wasn't there in the file I uploaded. One photo even had lines going through it like some 30 year old PC monitor....

I read facebooks help section on it and they suggested to keep files below 100kb which I did, and to choose high quality tick box when uploading but my 90kb jpegs were still totally different from what was uploaded to facebook.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I know facebook is not so good for photography but I have a huge following there and it's where people can see my work.

I Upload pics to Facebook, yes the quality degrades but not to the extent your saying for me anyway.. I upload them at the original size.. I think that's what the problem is try uploading them at the original size

When preparing images to upload on FB, I export at 100% quality, but the long edge at 2048px. I also use the "save for web" option in Photoshop. FB will compress them, but not as badly
