Using polarizers in UWA lenses

Is it true that using polarizers on UWA lenses causes unwanted vignetting in portions of the image? If so, how can this be prevented? Simply not use polarizers for wide shots?

Depends on the lens and polarizer used. Some combos will, some won't.

Most manufacturers make a 'thin' CPL for use on ultra-wides.

Use of a polarizer is an effect that simply cannot be duplicated or created in post.

Of more concern than the vignetting when using CPOLs with UWAs is banding. The nature of the optics involved often causes dark bands of colour in the sky such as this when you get into the very short focal lengths.

Some UWA lenses don't have filter threads because the curve of the front lens element prohibits mounting any filters .

That's the case with my 12mm.
