Using the Ex550 flash

Has anyone out there used the ex550 flash on a Canon DSLR Rebel? My understanding is that this is one of the most popular ones, yet I've experimented with it and it usually turns out too bright, not bright enough, or causes more blurr than the stock one.

First off...I love your avatar.

I don't have either that flash or camera but John uses them both. He is "Shark" here on the forum. PM him or just wait, he will be around to offer some great advice.

I do know that a lot of people like to set the flash one stop down so that it's not too bright. Your problem is probably with the flash settings because I don't think the DRebel has in-camera flash compensation.

FWIW, I mentioned in the PM it sounds kind of like the flash is not set to ETTL. I have yet to have a problem with it using the automatic metering...
