VGA cable or DVI for monitor?

Hi. I recently purchased a Dell ultra Sharp U2312HM IPS monitor. It's a budget one I know, but its better than any monitor I ever owned. Which cable is the more commonly used? On my old screen I just used the VGA cable but this new screen came with both VGA and DVI. The instructions say to use only one of the cables. So which ineffable should I use? Thanks

Only use DVI, VGA is analog, DVI is digital. With DVI picture will be sharper and colors will be better.
