Hi all, how much does the tamron vibration compensation help with shooting handheld (using 24-70mm 2.8)? How low of a shutter speed can you go without getting noticeable blur? Should I keep vibration compensation on whenever I shoot handheld? Thanks.

I don't know the exact amount the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC is rated to. I found a reputable review which stated about 3 stops. That sounds about right.

If you ever use a tripod, do not use VC at well. If you're shooting at 1/500 or faster, there's no point in having VC on. I say 1/500 since it's difficult to get an exact shutter speed where VC becomes pointless on a 24-70.

I would just keep it on and forget about it. If you are using a tripod, then turn it off.
