want to replicate a picture

ok so i really want to replicate a picture
this picture to be exact

now i don't have fancy equipment
i have my nikon d5100
with a good stand
and a 15-105 lense
and i want to buy a diva lighntning ring (as i understand it is used in a lot of pictures)


the thing is in that picture
everything looks so crysp and lid. amazingly !!!
they can't use long expos.. becouse then the model hair wouldn't look soo good..
and obviosly they have a white light going on the left.. with huge soft box.. or somthign ? am i wrong ?

so

how can i achieve the same style and same picture conditions like in the image i linked here ?

The face itself is out of focus, and overall, the picture is not very sharp. Throw a soft box over the model and post process a bit.

Not sure how a ring flash will help you mimic that photo...

From the highlights on her shoulder and hip, the light looks to be above and slightly to the left of the lens axis and is modified, likely by a strip type or long rectangular softbox large enough and double diffused to deliver the soft edged shadows we see in the image.
In addition I think a reflector was used low and right to add fill (light reflected from the main light) to her head, upper torso, and arm draped across the end of the couch.

So a ring light won't re-create the lighting.
Use a professional quality lens, start with a Raw file, use care editing the photo by sharpening using a 3 stage approach - capture sharpen the entire image lightly in the Raw converter, local/artistic sharpen in a raster graphics editing application, and output sharpen according the output use.
You'll want to use a color checker/gray card at the beginning of the shoot as an aid for setting WB and color correcting.

FYI, this is the type of Ringflash that is common in the industry. The LED/Fluorescent types are low light output.

Is a diva lightning ring the same thing as a ring flash?

My guess would be a strip box coming from camera left. Not hard to do...unless you don't have lighting equipment. Hehe.

Like too many people you are way overestimating the role of the equipment and way underestimating the role of the photographer.
A camera is a very sharp pencil/brush/chisel whatever - only a tool in the hands of the artist.
My guess is that if I had all the necessary camera and lighting equipment, I could replicate this - after a month of hard practice.
Good instruction could cut that by half or three quarters.
That doesn't mean I could conceive of a scene and pose this nice from scratch but only that I could replicate it.
Creating from scratch means another set of talents and artistic sense that I don't know if I have.
