In the last nearly twelve months I've spent so much time playing solitaire against the wall I decided to start playing left handed. Now I compete left versus right just to make it interesting.

I read recently that using your non dominant hand for routine tasks helps to keep your brain in shape. That and dancing - not a choreographed dance but impulsive dancing - because your brain uses different parts to quickly plan and coordinate your random movements. I have an uncle who developed dementia at only 65 so my mom (78) and I are making a conscious effort to research ways to help stay sharp.

I never thought I could do it until I broke my shoulder a couple years ago and forced myself to play pickleball competitively left handed. Patience and persistence. With the isolation of the pandemic I decided to do the same with tennis. Eventually, if I switch hands I almost forget to switch back. I think it may be like leaning a language, eventually you transition from translating to understanding.
