I would suggest using a welder to dry out the insides... Unless you're a noob.

Blow torches and molten lava work well, too.

I tried with lava a few weeks ago in Hawaii, it can work but you have to avoid the acidic gasses which can etch the glass. Although if done right you could create a lensbaby effect I think the best method is to dangle the lens over a lava flow using a fishing pole so you can position it away from the gasses but close enough for the heat. Real men forgo the fishing pole and use their hands.
