What do you guys think of my self and my friend portraits?

Yes especially in the shadow transitions

I'm still learning but I like to think I take pretty good pictures for a beginner.

I like the photos and I think the black and white style suits them better, but I'd probably do the cropping differently to leave more space around the head. Here is a good portrait cropping guide that might help, but in general these are nice shots.
