It is lovely, but my problem is not the cropping so much as the black blouse with no detail under the chin. On my monitor , there is no detail at all and your head seems to be floating with no supporting base...

Agreed. Very nearly a great photo. The blocked up shadows produce a hard jaw-line that is a bit distracting and incongruous.

Composition is much improved! Tonal range looks good... exposure is nice! You can see detail in all of the darkest areas. Nicely done!
