What do you use to secure or protect your gear?

I know how to fight with a knife I'm no dummy. I'm actually thinking about getting a tazer to have in my pocket. As far as guns go, it'd be a good investment but for my current standpoint now isn't a good time.

Do you truly know how to fight with a knife, as in having been trained by someone who really, truly, does? Or is this one of those 18-year-old I know EVERYTHING kinds of "I Know How To Fight With A Knife" dreams? It's not something you can just pick up on the internet or pretend to know.

I've had a whole lot of training in firearms over a lot of years, and some of it was by some truly badass former military types, the kind you really, really don't want to make mad. I thought I could hold my own with a knife until one of them showed me in less than a second that I couldn't. So, I'm telling you one more time that if you don't you'll be a lot better off leaving it at home and taking out insurance on your gear.

+1 SCraig way too many think they know how to take care of themselves in a fight. Me I'd Give Up the Gear and secretly arm the small explosive charge sewn into the camera bag and then hand it over.

But yep it's always safer giving up the gear. Then trying to be a TV Action Hero in your mind's eye.

I'm not pretending to be someone I'm not. I haven't had any training. It'd be great to learn but I can take care of myself without it. If I get a tazer then it would obviously replace it because it's far more intimidating and easier to use.

The folly of youth is you think you are invincible. Trying to defend you camera gear with a switchblade is one of the better examples of this folly I have seen in a long time.

I agree with you guys but at one point in my life I had very similar views. Because I thought I was tough, or a badass, or whatever. Plus I had a pretty severe temper.

So I see where he's coming from and hope that he won't have to learn by leading with his face because when you lead with your face you invariably run into ****. And that **** hurts.
