I am just wondering what do you guys wear in winter as I am in new in photography.

I don't know what to wear. I thought about jeans because it will get dirty and wet really easily when I do low-angle shots.

It depends how cold out it is and if the wind is blowing.

Wet jeans won't keep you warm, and jeans aren't very good at keepjng you warm anyway.

You didn't include your location in your profile.

I am still new. I am from the UK.

I've also another pair which are the similar design but the waterproof section does not come out. Great as they not only keep generally quite dry to wear, but also don't stain like jeans do when kneeling down (and heck if they did stain a bit muddy you'd never notice anyway).

I also have a 3 in 1 jacket from them - darn warm and again won't stain nor get soggy.

I wear the same type of clothing I would if I was hiking or camping in winter. You really want a good layer system, how many and how heavy depend on how cold it is. You most certainly do not want anything made of cotton. The trick to staying warm is staying dry, and most natural fibers (excluding certain wools) will grab humidity out of the air and get soggy, not to mention if you actually come into contact with water. Random winter day, -10-20 centigrade, I'd wear a skintight thermal baselayer (top and bottom), fleece midlayer (top and bottom), probably soft shell pants and jacket, and a big fluffy hat. If it's colder I might double the midlayers, or put a pillowy jacket on under the shell. If it's going to rain or snow or be extremely windy I'll replace the softshells with hardshells. I tend to like cross country skiing type gloves (soft shells), cause they still let you manipulate the camera decently. For just hiking and not shooting I wear big puffy gloves.

I tend to geek about outdoor gear worse than camera gear :-) lemme know if you want any specific recommendations though.

Stockings nand suspenders keep me really warm

Please tell me you don't go hiking or camping in the winter! I'm setting up a mini studio so I can keep practicing without having to go too much. I like to hibernate in the winter :)

Move to Arizona for the winter!! :sun:

As others have said, outdoor clothing is great, with plenty of layers. Try out Rohan, the outdoor and traveller clothes company in the UK. I just did a 7 day trip through Germany taking photos and I found the clothes I bought there very comfortable. They also do outdoor trousers that are waterproof without needing over trousers. On chilly mornings in Central Germany I fond the insulated trousers very useful. Rohan gear isn't cheap but it is comfortable and hard wearing. Jeans would be a very bad idea on a wet autumn day - they get wet and stay wet, and are miserable to be in when they are wet and cold.

Depends.. This morning I went out in shorts and a tee shirt while it was 32 and snowing... if I'm out all day shooting in the woods I would wear snowboarding pants and a waterproof jacket.

Thats funny because I am moving to Arizona as soon as my place sells! Actually going back to Phoenix in November to go house shopping!

I shoot at minus 20 to minus 40 celcius, sometimes with a wind while I am out on skis either in a forest or out on a lake or flat plain. My camera and lenses are in a smallish professional camera case. I take only what I will need such as a 27mm to 80mm to cover most shots and a 100mm to 450mm for the distance work.

I wear a tirtle neck underneath a flannel shirt or sweat shirt with a not too heavy winter jacket. A tuque, a pair of mittens and an extra pair of gloves in case one pair gets wet.

I once got lost in 40 below weather with a wind. I found my way home 8 hours later, tired but not uncomfortable from the cold.

Depends on what I am photographing. Today I wore sweats covered by jeans, a turtle neck, a long sleeve shirt, a sweater and a sweat shirt covered by my long wind breaker jacket. For my feet hiking boots and wool socks. I was shooting football for about 6 hours.
If it were a client I'd have worn a pair of my dressier jeans or dark brown or black dress pants and my hiking boots, several layers and a better jacket.
You have the right idea of it. It's got to be comfortable, warm and easy to move in.
GLOVES!!! A rainsleeve is almost a necessity. It keeps your trigger hand warm too!
Make sure your camera is acclimated before you go out and expect to shoot.
