What Kind of Photoshop?

What kind of photoshop do I need as a beginner. I dont want to spend that much $ right now. Thanks in advance for the input.

what do you want to do with the program? simple editing? advanced?

Yes just some simple editing for now until I am more advanced.

If you are going to be serious about photography, the cataloging feature will become invaluable. The ease of editing (non-destructive btw) is unmatched IMHO.

I got the entire CS4 creative collection for $99 when I went to Art Institute. If I was still there I could probably get CS5 for the same. Student discounts are the best.

You are aware that you can buy the upgrade to CS5. You don't have top buy the full version.

Get the free open source www.GIMP.org or the consumer version of Photoshop Elements. You will find more online help for Elements than you will for GIMP. Like at www.elementsvillage.com, and Adobe TV

Photoshop CS5 and LR3 are professional level software.
