What Makes One lens Mount Better Than Another?

Not really mount design but more to do with the flange distance of the Canon EOS system.

yeh I did... sorry I apologize. Didn't realize you were joking. Just a bit tired of the whole brand rivalry thing. I don't even shoot with my Canon much anymore....

Some of the comments I've seen indicate that because Canon chose to drop support for FD, they were able to built a ground-up AF based lens mount where they did not have to worry about backward-comparability. Obviously the mount quality is only a tiny part of what makes up the system but I think it is fair to say that the EF mount is "better" than competitors mounts.
