Hey Guys,
I haven't been on here in a long time... I was all gung hoe (er how ever you would spell that ) when i first got my camera, and i was out shooting all summer long, but for the last few months i haven't had any inspiration. I live up in Sudbury Ontario...(about 4 hrs north of Toronto) and the weather has been so crappy for months now... we don't have much snow and its overcast every day..

I have even purchased a few more toys, ( external flash, light difuser cone, and a 50mm f1.8 lens) and I find myself taking pictures of lamps and my christmas decorations and my plans.

What the hell do you do when you are in a slump like this.. my poor dog has had to sit through 475,836 photo shoots... she is getting a bit grumpy!!

Put on your jacket and mittens, and get outside. Practice your snow exposures - I'm in Victoria, and I would KILL for a week or two outside in the snow.

try to capture the miserable weather. :greenpbl:

How do you create depth and and dimention to a photo when the light is so difused and everything looks flat and BLAHHH>>>....

Do some photoshoot's,try using off camera flash for still life and/or portraits :)

well you could have a kid :lmao: but that too takes time so i suggest to go to facebook look up MCP actions Jodi is doing a 52 week challenge and she is giving an idea for inspiration each week try to follow along and post your pictures to the flicr group and have some fun you might even get a few "atta boys"

Funny you say that, cuz i found out 3 days ago... I got one on the way!!!...

9 months is a long time to wait...hahah...

I will check that out on FB for sure though.....

As for the Big Nickel.... yea... i have been wanting to go up there and see what i can do.... its on top of a hill though... so all you ever get is sky behind it... it will be a tuff getting a really good artistic photo of it... I work right across the street from it...

hmmm that can be challenging. i only drove past earlier last year so i didn't get a chance to get any pics myself.

i see in your avatar that you too DJ... so there must be opportunities to either try your hand at party photography as well. bust out that nifty fifty and see what you can do. i've been messing around taking pictures of my decks close-up and you can get some neat effects with slower shutter speeds with the pitch dots on the platter and some record labels look pretty sweet.

Nice to see that someone is still using wax... pretty much all of my friends are using CDJ's now. I don't personally don't like it, but there are so little places to buy records now, that you really don't have a choice..

I Find it hard to get good photo's that capture the light but are not blurred do to motion though... and we all move around so much when we are playing....

Don't like cranking the ISO to 3500 to compensate....

Same with me it is just dull here at the moment, and i just take photos of things around the house it's really annoying.

2nd curtain flash helps so that the movement is frozen at the end of the exposure. I find that helps a ton. Also bouncing the flash so as not to blind the poor fellow too much behind the decks is nice. You can get creative with off-camera flash too. I've just started experimenting with that myself so I'm far from an authority but it's fun!

There's a few guys I've seen post some pretty decent DJ and club shots. Maybe dig up one of those threads for some inspiration.

Wax ftw! although I'm guilty of using Torq as it's waaay too expensive to buy wax for more than one genre. It's still using records but my back likes me a lot better for not lugging around 10,000lb from gig to gig. As for buying tunes, I usually order all my DnB and Breaks off redeye records. No record shops within at least 3hrs flying time from my place. ;)

OH..... you don't just get someone else to carry them?

oops guilty :blushing:

I just picked up the 430EX but i don't have a cable to take it off camera yet.. I did how ever pick up the Gary Fong light sphere..

Lightsphere Collapsible (Folds Flat, Soft, High Power) *BEST*

I am excited to try this thing out.... cuz bouncing the flash only goes so far..
