What would be a good point and shoot for a beginner?

My aunt was asking me what would be a good camera for her to take on trips. She is traveling to Glacier Nat'l Park, Yellowstone, so she's looking for something that will work for landscapes. She didn't quite say, but I'm assuming she's just looking for a point and shoot that "takes nice pictures". I don't know a lot about point and shoots. What's on the market now that would work for her. That zooms really good without losing it's sharpness? I'm thinking Best Buy would be the best stop for her to get one. We no longer have a specialty shop in our area anymore and are stuck with them or Walmart. Any help is appreciated. And linking to a specific camera would be awesome of you. I tried to talk her into a DSLR!

If your aunt is not particularly tech savy, I would look for a P/S that has
something like a 'Smart Auto' mode. Canon & Nikon are good brands.

There is a steep learing curve for digital cameras, even the simpler ones.

I have been using a Canon Powershot SX 130 IS for a few years, but still
keep a couple of film cameras around. Ths current version of the Powershot SX400 IS.

My personal opinion is if you don't want to go with a DSLR then just use a cell phone.

There are attachments for the phone for that. I have attachments for my iPhone that wife me a wide angle and a 2x telephoto.
