Maybe get the birds to turn around, or take the photo from the other side of the cage? :-)
Nice composition.

I actually really like this. There's something about it. It kinda reminds me of that classic scenario of a young boy and girl sitting next to each other on a bench, not sure how to interact. I'm half expecting the blue bird to start slowly scootching over to the yellow one. Or maybe I'm just weird...

I'd like to see more definition/contrast in the yellow bird, more like the blue one. And I think compositionally, I'd like to see the crop a little tighter all around, and bring the perch up just a hair more off the bottom of the frame. But, that's just my opinion, which is often worth little more than $0.01

I like the idea but overall the image is boring, if the birds were closer together (I know that's not under your control) then the overall idea of the composition would be much clearer. If this were myself I would've taken a shot of this, realised that the birds are too far apart and gone and taken a photo round the front. I would've taken a much tighter shot as well, there's too much negative space to the right of the image.

You've thought about the depth of field you want to achieve and done it well, with a nice bokeh. It draws the attention to the birds.

I measured it with pro eye and it's still mediocre. Nice colors of the birds though.

Measured this with non-pro eye... I like it. I like how they're looking the other way. Would be really really nice if there's something interesting in the background for the birds to look at.

Its overexposed on the budgies , you have lost details on the yellows.

That it is, the camera's calculating for the backdrop. In situations like this I would play with my camera's EV settings.

In situations like this, I use spot metering mode and meter the highlights.

The bokeh is not very smooth at all, unless you are using the term bokeh instead of depth-of-field, though the terms are not interchangeable.

The composition leaves some to be desired to as there is to much head and right side space.
