Whats a good zoom lens for sports?

Right now I have a tamron 75-300 and super blurry with any kind of movement. What else is there? Under 400 dollars

If you are using Canon, then I would recommend the 70-200 f/4 L non-IS. Perfect range for almost all field sports. It is a few hundred over your budget, but definitely worth it. Can't think of others at the moment...:scratch:

For sports, IS/VR is not very important, it doesn't stop the action. Only fast shutter speeds will. The reason you were getting blurry photos with your current lens is because of its smaller aperture, which needs slower shutter speeds for proper exposure, thus more blur. The only 70-200 that Sigma makes is a 2.8 version, and it is $800 U.S.

Are you talking blurry from moving subjects or crap image quality. I have the tamron, and it is reasonably sharp for what it is.

ISO performance is not standard across all camera brands. Knowing what kind of camera you are shooting with will help answer your question.

Well I'm clueless on the ISO performance of that, but you should be able to crank it up and still get decent shots for what you are doing. No one expects football shots at night to not have a bit of grain in them from having to shoot in low light conditions. Going out and spending money on a F/2.8 lens would be a waste. Just crank up the ISO-speed (and the shutter speed) and you will be fine.
