Having said that, I made the decision to go Nikon in 1969 and have never looked back. What I like about the Nikon system is they have built and upgraded there system so that they have never left obsolete there prior camera bodies. The 1986 400 f/3.5 or 300 f/2.8 manual focus lenses I own works perfectly well on my D1X. On the D50/D70/D100 bodies, it will mount but would need to have a chip added to meter. Not a big expence so I feel its an advantage. I believe the D70 is more rugged than the canon version. I know my D1's have been through he11 and back and still function perfectly. My D1 is a 1999 body, the D1X a 2002 body, they have frozen, been in the rain and salt, shot at dirt track car races and boat races. Never missed a beat.

My hubby and I both use Nikons. He digital, I'm still stuck on film.

When you get into the upper levels of cameras, like the Canon 1D series or the Nikon D1/D2 series, you can change the focus screen to one of the split screens like back in the day. Ksmattfish has also changed his on the 20D from what my memory is telling me but you'd have to ask him about that.

Sure glad I shoot Minolta, I would hate to be in this debate for the rest of my life. Canon vs. Nikon, Nikon vs. Canon, 350 vs. D70, G vs. L, Canon vs. Nikon.......... I love when someone ask a question, like. Is the Nikon d70 good? Then Canon guy chimes in and says something to the sort, that's a very nice camera, but I felt the Rebel XT had better ergos and if you do not have a lens base yet you should take a closer look at Canon. And then Canon and Nikon guy slowly one up each other going from XT to D2s untill they have been through the entire product line. That's great due it some more.

Well I was aiming for Nikon until Canon got so many votes.
Ive heard the Nikon has a nice fat grip, and the lens's are compatible with any other nikon camera. basically thats all I know, the technical stuff I dont know what is really valuable, and not so valuable.

when I do purchase my camera, ill let ya all know what I got. And ill also post a bunch of pictures I took with my current camera.. Powershot A300 (yes a basic digi camera) thats why im upgrading.
