Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
I am selling my Canon 20D and my original plan was to buy a used Nikon D90, as its newer and shoots video. I want to stay away from the 550D & D3100 etc although the video quality would be much better than the D90 i much rather prefer the mid-range bodies for photography (primarily use)

I've been looking around and i have realised that a 1Dmk1 would be in my price range, and i have been wondering whether this would be an upgrade as its an older camera than my already dated 20D?

Nikon or Canon i am not to fussed as i have sold off my Canon lenses anyway.

Here is a link to my Flickr account so you cans can get a look at what i shoot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/60147214@N02/

I
hope you guys can help me come to a decision.

Thanks.

You know, the 1D Mark II-n is/was a great camera. I've seen many thousands of fantastic professionally-captured images with the II and II-n.

the Mark III was an 18-month DISASTER of failed autofocusing on tens of thousands of bodies...the II and II-n were rock-solid workhorses. Ones that actually FOCUSED RIGHT! I could see going to a II or II-n, even today. I am not sure if I'd go with the original 4.2 MP model though...kind of old now...many are worn out I would suppose.

Alright cheers, ill have a look into the mkii. What about the 5D?

You are going from one very out of date body to another. Not something I'd do. You didn't say what your needs really are either. Common sense upgrade would be to the 60d or the 7d. The older version of the 5d is a good camera, but it has its limits too. Add that to the fact we are all really waiting for the 5d MK III which is due out any time and it too is really out of date. It does have SOME advantages over your 20D but not a significant upgrade.
Why are you looking at the outdated bodies? Is there a reason? What will you be shooting with it primarily? What is the budget?

Yes, the Canon 1D Mark II-n...it's so outdated that probably 5,000 newspaper shooters across the USA are using it every day. Still. Not the people who have big bucks at the big metro dailies, but small-town and medium-sized paper PJ's. The big guys have switched to the Nikon D3s.

I'd suggest something like a 40D or 50D. Very similar to your 20D but newer & better.

I recently upgraded from using 20Ds and now I have a 5DmkII. The only bad part is that the 5D, being full frame, made most of my lenses obsolete.

I still use a 20D, on occasion...and the thing that really stands out to me now...is how small the LCD screen is. It's so small, I feel like I can barely read the menus.

Home?

If you can't make a choice on your own after the experience you seem to have, maybe that is where you should go.

Cheers.

Big Mike, yeah the screen size is a problem for me, whenever i use someone elses camera then go back to mine it looks so small.
The 5Dmkii is an awesome camera how do you find it?

Would it be worth saving a little longer for the d7000 or to just go for the D90?

I'm loving it so far. I didn't really know how much, until I picked up a 20D again. Now I've been spoiled by the huge screen and huge viewfinder.
This last weekend, I used it to shoot video at a wedding. That's a whole new ball game.

I don't know much about the D90, but I've seen plenty of D7000s in the classes I teach. They look like pretty good cameras.

I loved my 5d2 when it was my first and only full frame camera... Then I fell out of love with the focus in it. Then I got the 1d3 and the 7D. I rarely use the 5d2 now. I still love it for portrait sittings, weddings and anything in fairly good light, but the focus system isn't the hottest thing out there. The center point is the only cross type sensor and I often feel it. I also shoot sports a LOT and the 5d2 just hangs me up. It can be done and I have done it, but it's much easier with a better focus system. Forget about it for football under the lights. I have more missed focus with it than good shots then. I honestly use my 7D more than my 5d2-but only because of the type of photography I do most. If I were mostly weddings and portraits I'd use the 5d2.
