I am in the process of planning my summer 2019 holidays and would like to get a good photograph of a Kingfisher. Ideally with little travel from South East London.
I think the London Wetland Center is probably the best place, any other ideas? (Other bird photography recommendations apart from Little Owls - I have loads of photos of them - gratefully received)

I don't now the south London area well enough, but I would suggest dropping an email to the LWC to explain what you are after and ask them for advice. It might be that they've got a few hides that have regular (or semi regular) kingfishers or could be that they are really rare. Similarly I'd check out any RSPB sites nearby and drop them a message too. Most are quite happy to talk birds and direct you to where you can safely get what you're after without causing disturbance to the birds.

Nature reserves usually keep a good record of sightings, get in touch with them and ask if they regularly see kingfishers and what time of year is best. The RSPB or birdwatchers forums may be able you advise better.

I managed to see one a couple of years ago at Brandon Marsh, but it was luck more than any planning.
