Which background material?

Apologies if this has been raised recently, I couldn't find anything recent, but I need to buy a cheap new background. Some places say theirs is muslin, others say a synthetic mix, does anyone know which of these is preferable? (Or can anyone tell me anything better?)

Well, I like muslin myself and usually buy it from the fabric store. They only have basic colors so you'll either have to tie dye it or use colored gels on your background light. Also, seamless paper is pretty affordable but I have yet to use any.

most pros use muslin. It's a really nice material to work with...
