Well, how long you will be happy with your camera depends upon how well you matched that camera with your personal needs.
If you want a camera you still want to use in 5 years you will have to be able to know what you will need in 5 years. Can you do that today ?
I, for example, know definitely I'm currently unable to find a camera that will keep me happy for the coming 5 years. Theres just too many issues with all existing solutions right now. My D600 for example has an AF field thats too limited to the center area. The D7000 as well as D7100 are awesome general cameras - but unfortunately the lens options are limited. The lens selection for Fuji X (same sensor format) is already better than that for Nikon DX.
If you just want to shoot still photos, the D7000 as well as the successor the D7100 is an extremely solid choices and possibly the best general cameras available.
If you need the newest features, the D5300 certainly is your optimal choice. However, with this attitude (getting the newest features) I think its unlikely you'll be happy with that camera for five years.
If you think video is important, in my understanding Canon was first with video, and is still ahead of Nikon in this field. That means better video quality.

I never trust any source that claims to have "unbiased" information. Unless you ask really simple questions that have obvious objective answers, like "how warm is it outside in the shadow", there is no such thing. But cameras are extremely complex tools with at least hundreds of parts, and there are so many aspects to them - image quality including performance in tough spots, focus quality, ergonomics including speed, weight/size, and loudness.
