Hello first off I am using a canon 7d camera. And my interest are taking picture of family and my grandson. Now the two lenses I am choosing from are EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM and the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM. I am leaning to the 17-55mm due to the f/2.8 and it has IS. But Does this take a good of a picture as the 17-40mm as far as sharpness and speed. I do have a external flash the 430exII speed light so I dont know if this would help on the decision. I hope I gave a good enough idea of what I am going to use it for to help with this choice. Just would like some opinions on which lens other people would chose before I spend this much money thanks in advance.
