hi im kinda new to photography, I'm looking to take a trail photo of the polaris star, iv just bought a timer remote shutter release cord, I'm kinda trying to decide if i could use a lens i already own as funds are tight..

Q which if any would you recommend

(1) 105 mm sigma macro
(2)basic 18-55mm
(3)55-300mm.

if you fancy giving me some tips swell

google is your friend. This topic has been discussed many times here, in fact usually 1-2 threads a week asking how to take photos like this. Using the search tool on this forum would be a good start as well

I'd go with your 18-55. Make sure your tripod is rock steady and weigh it down, if it has a column hook.

Find the widest lens you have.

You'll also want a tripod, a clear moonless night, and about a hundred miles between you and the nearest light bulb.
