Photos NOT OK to edit
im trying to decide between 5 lenses. ultimatly im going to try them all and decide, but before that id like to see if anyone has any opinions on any of them. the four lenses are

sigma 50-500 F4-6.3
70-200 F2.8
80-400 F4.5-5.6 OS(optical stabalizer)
canon 70-200 F4L or F2.8L

i read somewhere that the 300D cant handle the power requirments of the sigma OS lens anyone know if thats true? ill usualy be using on a 20D but want to be able to use on my dRebel to.

as far as usefulness and quality, the 70-200 2.8L IS. but that is also the most expensive. outrul the 80-400 as the sigma 50-500 is better and you wont have to worry about the OS which i've heard can be testy. the sigma 70-200 2.8 is a terrific lens. if you can afford the 2.8L IS, obviously go with that, but the sigma 70-200 is a great one, as is the canon 70-200 f4L. these lenses have quite varying ranges, so it really depends on what you'll be doing with them. If you want something that can shoot long for nature and stuff, the bigma is a good choice, or a 70-200 2.8 with a 1.4 or 2x tc. if you think you might use it for portraits or need low light capabilities, go with one of the 2.8s.

i think im leaning twords the sigma 70-200 2.8 but i wish it were just a little wider i usauly use between 50-200. i really like the range of the 50-500 but i cant imagine that lens being very great if i ever wantd to do portraits with it.

I own the Canon 70-200 f/4 L, and I regularly use it with the 1.4x TC. It's an amazing lens, and the price is right. Build quality and optics are superb. If you want 50mm range, buy a 50 1.8. Otherwise, just move your feet a bit.
