Which was the first digital camera you ever owned?

Out of curiosity..assuming that your got one quite early on, say around 1998-2002 or so;
which was the first digital camera you ever owned? And which point-and-shoot digital camera was
a past favourite of yours?

The very FIRST digital I ever bought was a used Nikon D1. I got that Feb 2001. I remember buying a then-HUGE 1-gigabyte IBM Microdive--for $400. FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS was like $100 below normal retail price at that time! zOMG. Past favorite P&S digital?? probably the Canon G3 or G4...I had it back in 2003 I guess, bought it used, cvannot recall the exact model number it was...had it about eight months or so, then passed it along to my favorite niece who reallllly wanted a digital camera. It had been used by a rock-climbing outdoor enthusiast, and was beat to chit...DENTED, scratched, abused,abused LCD, but it still shot well!!!

Canon powershot. Don't remember the model number. I was in 6th or 7th grade. Had double A batteries a 1 GB card.

Favorite point and shoot was/is my canon s95. Great little camera!! Sharp sharp pictures.

XSi was my first DSLR. Now I have a 7D. Bet you can guess which one i like better.

I had a Fuji Finepix A101 - 1.3mp point and shoot that I bough in 2001 to take on a trip to Europe with me. I had an absolutly massive 128 MB memory card for it that would fit 70 or so images on it. It was HORRIBLE!!!!!! Wish I still had it. I'd use it for target practive.


Hmmmm 70 or so images on the card - sounds like a D800 now that I think about it!

I bought a new Nikon CoolPix 950 in 1999. 2.1mp. I still have it and use it occasionally. It's a nice camera; very well built. but doesn't have any of the features that I've become accustomed to with my subsequent digital cameras. I'm now using thee Nikon D80

My work had the digital cameras that took the floppy discs. LOL. My first p&s was a Canon whatsahoosit that was thin enough to fit in my front pocket.

First one I ever OWNED was a Canon Powershot, a70, I think.
But the first one I *essentially* owned and used extensively was the Sony Mavica, the one that took floppy disks rather than CDs--I think it was an FD200. Technically, it wasn't "mine"--it belonged to my employer--but I was the only one who used it, and I was also allowed to use it for personal uses as well. The first trip I took with my two young boys to DC was all recorded with that Sony Mavica, and I still have the BOX full of floppy disks that resulted (no fear, I also have the images copied onto actual usable media--but man, those are some AWFUL quality pictures!).

EDIT: I missed the part about "favorite." Of the older, p&s digital cameras I owned, my favorite was just about ANY of the Canon Powershots (I think I had three. Or maybe four)--awesome little cameras. I dropped them, threw them in my purse, in a backpack, wherever--they just kept right on working. And the last one I had (still have, actually, and still use when the D5100 just isn't appropriate, which isn't often) did a pretty decent job of close-ups. In fact, I won three ribbons at our state fair with that little Powershot, even up against some DSLR photos--albeit from people who likely kept their DSLR on Auto--let's be clear that *I* am NOT advocating the "it's just as good as a DSLR line."

Wow...what a bunch of oldies...I'm waiting for the first poster to say, "My first digital camera was a Nikon D3000" or something else from like last year!!!
