What's new

Why do some posts get more comments?

The ironic part is this thread has almost nothing to do with photography, has fairly little merit, and has more responses than my latest request for C&C.

It seems like we would rather comment on human nature than on photography?
Human nature is (for some of us) an easier topic to approach. ;) On the other hand, saying something nice about a crappy photo is quite another thing. I've had several "zero reply" photos on this forum. I finally stopped adding them. The hidden message for me was...Your photos are crap. :D

The thread comment hiarachy:

1. Hawt avatars (MissCream, erose, etc)
2. "I bought a dSLR yesterday and have a wedding next week, what do I need to know?" threads
3. Selective coloring threads
4. Terrible, awful pictures that the OP thinks are the best thing EVAR!!!1!!1
5. Terrible, awful pictures in general.
6. Anything by KBarredo
7. Spectacular pictures
8. Meh pictures
9. Decent pictures from members that are improving

I tend to spend 30+ minutes writing and formatting my posts. I like to write thorough comments, and I don't always have time to write the amount I want to. Also, people on here tend to take the same shots over and over again. I feel like my critiques are very repetitive so I look for posts that I can say something new.

Since I'm a begginer (and only know information on specific topics), I open a thread read it and decide if I know enough on the topic and I just go back or answer, because who needs half-assed answers or replys?

Maybe not, maybe the title did not get attention. I for one, skip posts that identify that they deal with cars & bikes, they are just not within my interest. Like others here, if previous posters covered what I might say, then I do not comment.

As for the hot avatar, how come many of my posts get little attention. ;)

Okay ... I changed my avatar... :D

*Comes here to grumble that no one has posted on the new photos I added to my thread.* -.-

EDIT: Haha of course moments after I type this someone does. :D

Me too. Also for me HDR and infra-red...and usually 'night photography', unless it's astro or e.g the 'Illuminated Niagra Falls, 4th of July' posted yesterday; which is something out of the ordinary.

I have found that I skip over a lot of the C&C threads because too often people give honest feedback and most OPs are way too defensive. It gets boring after a while.

I could've sworn you were a guy, but you look damn good in a dress.

Btw, didn't someone ask this last month?

Some posts are just better than other ones...

This isn't Mr. Roger's neighborhood, and you are not special by default...

You left out:
What should I buy?
What camera should I upgrade to?
Canon vs Nikon
and most importantly, Miracle Whip vs Mayonaise.
