What's new

Why have YOU started Photography??

Because I used to play video-games like a korean (ok not that bad) and once I did some thinking and I realized that I had absolutely nothing to show for it, therefore I picked up the camera to create something with my time instead of killing it.

Photography killed my WoW/EVE habit and is now my primarily source of income (even though its pretty low :p)

My children. If I can freeze just one happy moment in their life for them to later look back at and enjoy, then my mission is complete. So having children got me interested in photography, the desire to produce quality photographys is what got me to work at the subject. I'm still working - every day. Whoever said taking photos is easy was right. Taking quality photos takes dedication, understanding, patience and hard work.

I'm loving the response guys. :)

I like learning new things, developing new skills. and I'm always looking for another way to be creative.
probably number one reason, I got sick of paying for bad shots of my kids and cant afford a good photographer. figured that if I'm going to get bad shots, I might as well get them for free with my own camera.
I keep at it because I'm enjoying the process and the fact that our family albums are starting to look a bit less like that 'you are not a photographer' website.

I got tired of kicking puppies.

Dude. EVE 4TW.

i liked arts but i couldn't draw or paint for crap. i liked the technical aspect of photography, dealing with the equipment and chemicals and stuff.... =p

Had nothing better to do and, too much money sitting in my bank account, made my checkbook too heavy to carry around... even with a neckstrap :)

Capturing candids of my friends in moments that represent who they are has become an addiction

Now I want to apply that to artists

I actually started just so I had something to process in the darkroom; when I was a kid my father usually didn't allow me to use the camera but he let me into the darkroom and that's where I learned. Now I photograph because I like tthe idea of empty cities; and that's what I do.

I'm a creative person at heart. I draw and paint, but digital photography is much easier to clean up and less messy than paint. =) Come to thin of it, I don't even remember when was the last time I painted. lol

Honestly, 'kids' are what got me into photography at first. I still take a bunch of snapshots of the kids, but I do get a few shots for myself here and there.

I shoot film pretty much exclusively - so I try to get at least a few 'non-kid' photos per roll.

I've always wished I could show people how beautiful the world really is. I've always been frustrated that a lot of people are blind to the beauty of it all, so now I can show them what I see by using my camera. :)
Silly, right?
