Will anAF Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED with a D40?

i am not sure about the autofocusing. It is for my schools yearbook. I will most likely be using it on my D300. But they only have D40s and i wanted to make sure it would work properly.

If doesn't have AF-S or AF-I in the name, then no, it won't have AF.

As far as I know the 80-200mm Nikkor won't autofocus with the D40/D60 cameras as it has no built in autofocus motor. For autofocus to work you need to use it with the D80 or better.

For the D40/D60 you'd want the 70-200mm VR, which has been on back-order for ever.
