With and without flash...What did I do wrong??

Same location... aperture priority... facing into the sun instead of away... no flash... evaluative metering,with reflector. Any better? I know I should have probably been at a lower angle... hindsight.

That's beautiful. Very well done! A lower angle, as you said, and maybe not crop so close to her fingers, are the only things I can think of mentioning. Some PP would probably bring out more pop, but you have a solid image to work from. You really nailed it.
