I'm trying to work on composition. Please let me know if the composition is pleasing to the eye. Thanks in advance!

Second is the best. First doesn't do anything for me.

Third one would be a nice wide angle shot if you hadn't of clipped the tips of the wings. Actually the second could stand to be a little bit wider as well, but overall I like it.

1, not feeling it either.. seems a bit soft also.
2-3 LOVE them. Well done.

it looks like you need a wider lens. each shot is decent, but being able to capture more of the surrounding environment (or just the entire subject) would benefit.

#2:thumbup:

Airplanes are tough to shoot when they're just sitting on the ground, so the trick is to make them look like they're flying even when they're not. Don't be afraid of tilting the camera and using angles. By design, most airplanes have nice lines, so use them to your advantage. For large aircraft, you can shoot the parts and assemble them in a gallery. If your intent is to shoot the whole aircraft, you can't clip the wing tips off. Fisheyes and airplanes go good together.

#1 would benefit from a wider lense, much lower angle with around a 45 degree shift to the left or right.

I tend to agree with the others that have posted here. #1 does nothing for me, the colour of the engine "pod" should be consistent all the way around. It is okay along the bottom part, but is somewhat blown out along the top. #2 is not bad, but the problem you have is that there is considerable dynamic range in this image, from the dark fuselage of the plane on the right to the blown out sky on the left. If you get a chance to shoot this one again, you might want to think in terms of an HDR image. Also, you clipped off the top of the gunner's or the pilot's "pod". #3 is much better, but you clipped the plane's wings. You need to step back, take a panorama or get a wider lens. Again, you have the problem of a wide dynamic range with the very light sky at the top contrasting with the darker wheels area and the runway - either HDR, or two images, one for the sky and one for the runway and then merge them in Photoshop - you could try a similar merge for #2 as well.

Just FYI, it is always useful when asking for C&C, to include the camera and lens that you used together with some information as to how the shot was made and edited (if any editing was done), e.g. raw or jpg, editing software, editing parameters if possible, etc. With this information, anyone offering C&C may be able to provide some suggestions as to what you might do for improvements, if any are suggested. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

WesternGuy

1st : I think an angle looking straight up the blade would of been an interesting view point
2nd : Thats a nice setup for that shot
3rd : I wish you had taken it dead on with the center of the plane, seems like you were standing alittle to the right of center...or you had the camera pointed to the left. There is more wing on the left then the right and thats what bothers me.
Still a nice job though

Yes, I agree. I am looking into purchasing a winder lens. Maybe a prime lens.

I really appreciate all the comments. I didn't really notice some of these things before posting. Thanks!

Thanks. I agree, it looks a lil lop- sided as if I was not in the center.

I was shooting with a T1i using a kit lens 18-55. I don't really have any editing tools, haven't purchased any as of yet. It is a jpg image.

Same camera set up i've got man, i'd suggest getting the 50mm 1.8 if you don't already have it. You can download a 30 day free trial of lightroom for all your editing needs. It's a full feature trial so it gives you all the abilities that buying it would. It's a great editing program once you get the hang of it.

Thanks! I have a 85MM 1.8, but not sure if I should purchase the 50mm? What do you think? I have heard mixed opinions on the matter. So Lightroom is an editing tool, isn't Photoshop and editing tool? What is the difference? I will continue doing some research on the two. Thanks again!
