Working on composition of flowers ...what do you think?

You're so humble, positive and willing to learn :) I can't help but smile a bit. In addition, you're the cause of 50 % of my likes :D One thing is to learn by reading what others are saying, another thing is to learn by trying to explain stuff. These threads are based on mutual benefit.... which is good :)

theres no room for thin skin... if you cannot take the heat you will never learn from the pros...so i really totally appreciate feedback good or bad because i am learning.. i may never be great at photos.. like some of you but i enjoy it so much that i just love learning.. even though very frustrating at times.. worth every minute to capture all the beauty around us... i see through the camera better then i see through my eyes without it..... thanks so much..

Here's another exercise for you. To be executed wherever you are: try and perceive the world in black and white. It'll teach you to become aware of contrasts and lines, shadows, patterns and other stuff that our colour vision prevent us from seeing clearly. Darn that colour vision!!!! :P When it comes to composition, trying to see the world in black and white might help see those things colour draw our attention away from.

Also shooting a little black and white helps on composition, and in B&W it's extra important to look for contrasts, lines, patters and other stuff that will make the image interesting, as colour won't.

Check out the rule-of-thirds. It's aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and your current centering leads to a boring image.

Still centered,

This is rich D-B-J. You mention the R.O.T., you call out the OP for still centering to subject and then you post an example and being guilty of the very same thing. IMO, your example also lacks pop. Doesn't really give me the warm and fuzzies.

I don't shoot flowers much, but I'll offer one up for scrutiny. I think this one loosely follows the R.O.T., has a less than boring composition and shows a slightly different PoV.

thats definitly a great concept to acheive better composition... and i sure do lack in that department.. i will definitly give that a try.. i take photos everyday.. so it will be very interesting trying black and white with compostion in mind... i will get right on it .... it doesn't even have to be a sunny blue sky day... thanks again.. you have been awesome..

I thought it was just me. I was having trouble seeing anything I liked in DBJ's example... sorry dude.

I like your sample Kundalini - nice color and composition - but definitely dislike all the bug bites.
