Would you buy a D610?

I wouldn't. But only because I already own two D600's. If I were jumping onto the Nikon FX bandwagon for the first time, yes, the D610 would be my first choice.

The D810 and D800 don't have anything more than the D600/610 that I need, so the money would be essentially wasted in my case. The D750 is the same. Another consideration I must look at is all of the software I currently have is no longer supported, so I wouldn't be able to edit D750 .NEFs without ponying up for more software. So just make sure your software is compatible with any camera you're considering.

All the accessories worked between the two too. Made me a happy camper. Another reason I didn't go with the d700 - different accessories connectors, batteries, etc.

Smart man, lots of people like buying DX lenses and I guess if they really dont see themselves going FX then thats fine but if there is a chance user will go eventually FX then the smartest move is to go FX lenses.
Some of the "D" lenses are still today very sweet lenses!

Cant use "D" lenses with a D5100 ... well you can, but its masochistic to try manual focus on an entry level body (though with lifeview it actually kind of works, as I noticed recently).
