What's new

Would you buy the same camera again?

Well, I have a D3000 that I bought off a guy on Craigslist last December for $300.

I love it.

Would I do it again?

As they say up here in Minnesnowda.... you betcha!

Now perhaps someday I'll come to figure out it's not meeting this or that need, and then I'll look for a better body. Then I'll give the D3000 to one of my daughters.

don't forget "oofta"

I'm happy overall with my camera. At the time, it was the best I could afford. But sometimes I do wish I had saved up a little more and got a d90. Do not regret my purchase though.

I've seen D90's for under $600 on craiglist these days.. and around $650 on Keh.

D3000.

At the time of purchase (noob), of course I'd do it again. With my knowledge of cameras now and the way I'm shooting, probably not, I'm already looking for upgrade to d7000 after a year. I'm sitting on it now though, I won't upgrade bodies until next year sometime. Poor iso performance and no internal focus motor are the killers for me.

If I had it to do over again, I would have bought the D90 instead of the D5000. Just feel that it offers a lot more for a little more money. I bought the camera with little research and depended on the Best Buy guy for his knowledge. Wont be doing that again. Anyways, all the extra's the D90 had I didn't feel I would really need, like the top display. Little did I know I wish I had the commander mode, the internal motor, and more selections to change without having to dive into the in camera menu. Of course, now that I am looking to upgrade to the D90, I find myself thinking, why not pay the extra and just get the D7000. guess I have to sell the 5000 first.

for what i know now i probably would have went with a higher model then the D3000 but at the time i was new to the hobby and didnt want to invest a ton of money into a new hobby i wouldnt be sure would last. now that i know how much ive enjoyed it and am getting into it i would like to move up to a better model eventually. but at the time i bought what i thought was right for me.

Canon Rebel XS? Yes, I would buy it again. I'm no professional, and budget is tight. I'm sure the Rebel T1i is much better than the Rebel XS. However, I've come nowhere near exceeding the limitations of the Rebel XS. In fact, I still have a lot to learn about using it effectively.

yeh for now, a lot of people seem to have hate against the a390 but i havent really had any problems with it, its not as good as some of the canons and nikons but according to reviews was better than the other cameras my price range but if i could spare another hundred i would probaly go for a canon or a nikon.

D5000, probably not. But I don't know what I'd buy instead. In my view, dSLRs are trying to be entirely too helpful and offer too many menu options and presets that I don't need and never use.

Yup. I did a ton of research before I bought my T2i and in fact I will soon be in the market for a second one as backup.

And that's after having had the chance to use a 7D for a couple days, I still prefer my T2i. And the 5D Mark II isn't up to snuff on my video needs.

If I were going to buy a new still camera today, I'd probably want the 5Dm2 for it's full frame and better low-light performance. But I'm happy to wait and see what Canon does to upgrade the 5Dm2.

If you like the T2i, and are getting another one, look into the T3i which just came out. (Not to be confused with the T3) Almost identical specs from what little I read. Slightly larger around the viewscreen as it has one which can be swiveled out. Also I believe it has the built in transmitter for flashes which the T2i does not. They're almost the same price as well. (HD video, ISO, frames/sec, MP all seemed the same from the quick read I did but you'd want to read up on it more before making the purchase.)

I would definitely buy the same camera, although I would probably choose to upgrade to a FX and keep the DX as backup/second camera.

When I bought my T1i, I was also considering a used 40D, but was afraid of buying used. I think I should have chanced it but it isn't a regret that keeps me awake at night or anything.
