Thanks all
He certainly had a lot of fun sniffing around and then zooming around in it. Not quite as much fun with the whole idea of it getting all over his pile of sand. Last husky we had totally loved snow and would rush out, curl up and go to sleep in it (her tail was longer and thicker and easily wound around to cover most of her face)
I was actually impressed with the lens performing since "coming right at you" is one of the harder things to focus on for a camera and I was using my Tokina 24-70mm which isn't as fast as my more common action lens - 70-200mm. Yet I'd say it actually performed about on-par with that lens. Granted with the conditions I was also giving it a bit more aperture range to work with rather than a razor thin strip so that helped too.
