Anyone else planning on starting on at the start of the year?

I tried just doing a "52 project" last year. I stopped posting after 16 weeks because life got too busy... Might try that again, but wouldn't do the 52 because I don't think I would be able to take a meaningful picture every day.

Edit: I didn't stop taking pics after 16 weeks, just never found time to post them as I was actually including a discussion about every one, I didn't find that as interesting as just taking the photos... If I do it agail I'm going to skip the blogging part haha..

It will be interesting, but should be fun to keep forcing myself to be creative.

I tried a 365 last year, even had 52 themes picked out to help it stay interesting... I think I got up to day 10

I take photos pretty much every day anyway, but it's fun for those who can keep the momentum going.

I'm debating giving it a shot, but as it get's closer I realize how big a number 365 is. I'll give it a go, and if it gets too hectic with work I'll drop to one a week as pharmakon did.

Edit and shameless plug, photos will be here:

C&C always welcome.

My schedule is about to become really busy again and I will never be able to post a photo a day. I can probably take a photo a day no problem...but a photo, post process, and posting it once a day....won't happen.

I do plan to try a Project 52 though and will post one update per week with 1-3 photos from that week. This way I can shoot through the week, edit and post on the weekend.

I tried last year... I got two months or so in and just flat out ran out of desire. It turned into a chore to force myself to find something to take a photo of. I ran out of meaningful subjects. Of course I couldn't take my camera to work and have it all day, so that had something to do with it.

I am going to try it...it looks interesting. One of my friends is doing it right now and I love seeing what new thing she is doing every day

I am going to try this again this year too. Practice makes perfection...

I have started and bailed on a project 365 twice before. In both cases, I quit when it got to be too much of a chore to come up with decent photos every day. I think I am going to try again, but with a different focus.

A couple weeks ago, The Creative Mama had a blog bost about a Project 365-type idea chronicalling a family's daily life. I think I am going to try to focus my next Project 365 efforts on ME and my kids. Instead of trying to come up with photos to show to other photogs, I am going to try to keep the emphasis on capturing one year in my family's life. That means that there will be silly snapshots, there will be wonky colors from the cheapo P&S, and there will be a fair number of days where the photos will make my photographer-eyes cringe, but my mama-heart sing. The other big change is that I am NOT going to share this project in any of my photographer groups. I am only going to share these with the immediate family and a couple of close friends. I really want to do this for my kids and for me not other photographers.

I LOVE this idea..in the end, you can create a photobook to cherish forever.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone, I look forward to getting started and see how I hold up!

Nate,

Just a suggestion, but if you found it easy enough to take a photo a day but had a harder time getting to the post processing and posting each day, why not do a photo a day but post all 7days every week. (Lets say on Saturday/Sunday. You could post all 7 labeled by day 1/week. Still gets you out shooting each day without commiting too much time.

ClickAddict, that's what I was thinking of doing.

I've never done anything such as this before. Will you all be choosing your own themes or is there a sort of theme already planned for each day/week? I suppose location has a lot to do with it. I'm going to participate for sure. :)

Good thought. That will still be 7 per week instead of the 3-4/week I was planning. So, basically, do a project 365 with one photo for every day, but not necessarily posting every single day that the photo was taken? Not a bad idea.

My biggest thing is that I want to make it through the year with whatever project I do. Most people burn out early and I don't want to do that. Your idea sounds like a pretty good compromise between the two though.
