365 project anyone?

I think I am going to do a project 52. I have a newborn, a 50 hour a week dayjob and a wife, so a 365 would absolutely not work and even if I could make it work, I would lose interest pretty fast.

I was also thinking of doing a 52 project. A 365 one is out of my reach, there are days when I just can't take a photo worth sharing. A 52 project sounds fun though. And well, who says I am just limited to one photo a week? One week I might post only one good photo and the next one a theme series of 7.

My goal is to really take as many pictures as possible. Part of my goals for 2011 is to also be a "Chicago Tourist". I've lived in this great city all my life, but never really experienced it...if that makes any sense. So, most of my pictures will be of my family and events around the city.
I'm going to use this as my guide.

Thats actually a really good idea, gives me a extra thing to add to my 52 list. Deciding on themes is proving a bit harder than first thought but I think thats part of the challenge,in saying that though I'm looking forward to starting it.

I got to the whole themes thing I have them picked out it's just getting the the shutter to open and close in one click of the remote, settings are weird and messy, Have to hit shutter button twice.

I tried the 365 project once before but quit on the second week, I have a very busy schedule working 6 days, 60 hour weeks. But I will try to 52 week project this time, as for themes I was thinking about taking portraits of my puppy, since it's something I am already doing.

Well, I got started today. Planning on making it a 365 but, if after the first couple weeks it fizzles out, I'll cop out and turn it in to a 52.

Here's my first shot to start the year off. I really wanted a sunrise shot but it was incredibly overcast and the sun never really showed up (other than in the light meter readings). So instead, I headed out to the nearby Sutter Buttes, the smallest mountain range in the world, which actually got a dusting of snow last night; a rare occurance. This was shot about a half hour after sunrise.

If you really want to push forced creativity, you should do a 365/365.

That's a photo a day taken within 365 steps of your house.
Forcing you to pay more attention to your surroundings.

Good luck.

 Maybe next year. I'll have enough trouble just doing a 365. Besides for creativity challenges I always have Fight Club. :D

Once my spring semester starts there's no way I'll have time to do a 365 between that and work, but I do plan on doing a 52.
