5 Quick Ways To Tell You Are Not A Photographer Yet

I own an a350, which isn't really a "big camera" But i added a vertical grip and a second horizontal grip. Am I now less of a photographer because I made my camera bigger?

I am not sure what there is to "learn about photography" in auto mode...

I wonder if people get a superiority high from telling others that big cameras are evil.

I agree with number 2.

If you want to be a professional (going by the conventional definition), then yes money is a factor. I, however, know several awesome photographers who don't like to get paid because it's a hassle, they already have a rocking day job, and that's just another thing that they have to account for in their income tax (unless they're paid cash ;) ) In my opinion, it's like if a fisherman throws everything he catches back into the water. That doesn't make him an less of a fisherman.

I always let my clients choose their shots, unless the shots are going to be used for something that requires a certain look or w/e. If they're for personal use, the customer is always right in my opinion. I mean, sometimes I'll take photos of someone and they'll choose a shot that just makes me think "....really?" But....they're happier for it. And that's what I'm aiming for.

I don't know about you, Rex. But I would *certainly* turn away an H4d.

I wouldn't want to be one of those "big camera" non-photographers.

Yeah. I think I probably would too. But more megapixels doesn't necessarily mean bigger camera. I mean, yeah it has a lot of resolution, but from what I've read of digital Hasselblads, they basically suck at anything but studio work. Maybe I'm wrong.

And he made it so misleading and broad.

My first DSLR was my 1D. It wasn't a beginner camera, I probably looked like a dick carrying it around, because I wasn't what one would call a professional. But at the time of buying it, I had a NEED for it, and I don't regret my purchase. I have some heart burn about the whole big camera debate, because while I'm shooting I don't have time to deal with other photographers and their baseless judgements. :-P

Funny, that blog belongs to the OP.

#6 - Your photography site has banner ads.

#7 - Spamming your blog on photography forums.

I think you're all taking it waaaaaay to seriously.

Bloggers suck.

Nothing new has been said in this post, same old crap. And seriously, I'm getting so tired of the "exposure triangle" being brought out to prove how much people understand about equivalent exposure values.

Spam.But... A photographer is anyone that takes a photograph. Plain and simple. 1 quick way to tell you are not a photographer: you do not take photographs.

... if the only pictures you take are from a camera phone.

****. I have a "big" camera. Does that disqualify me from ever becoming a photographer?

Correct response: No Dumbass, it is your complete lack of skill that will ensure that.
