Complete loss of detail in facial features and skin texture, hard shadow lines, white balance is way off, catch lights dead center of the pupils.........

I prefered the first SP.

The image is too tight, you should have cropped it more wider.
I think you have shot the pic while the camera was in your hand, so it's tight. Try to put camera on tripod (table, chair or w.e will do it) and use self-timer to shoot it.
Colours are beautiful. I like to use them some way like that too, but maybe a little bit off from the green would do it better.

Graininess could be JPG compression, if it wasn't like that in the "original". Resizing or saving with lower quality JPG will do that.

Grainy and blown out... Have to agree with Kundalini.. You're sure this is better?
