For the tree and sky, you might want to shift your position a bit so that the moon is not completely blocked. Also, i wouldn't cut out the bottom of the wheel in the wheel picture. The tomatoes were fine technically, but visually do not say anything or tell a story. But everyone has to start somewhere so it's okay!

Nice start for someone who is new to this stuff - digital photography that is. Desi, you asked for C&C, so here goes...

#1. Nice snapshot of some tomatoes...might have been interesting to shoot the image just slightly OOF and then it could have become an interesting colour abstract - always a next time and I am one who loves to experiment.

#2, The "dead" of night - I like it - conveys a very sombre, but somewhat eerie mood.

#3. I would not have cut off the bottom of the wheel and I would have tried to make the background more out of focus (bokeh) as the "grey thing", what ever it is, detracts a bit from the main image.

#4. Nice image - but I am afraid it does nothing for me - just a foggy valley and some apartments or hotels.

#5, Too bad you cut off the legs, not always a good thing to do with animals or people for that matter. I am not sure if you cropped this, but if you did, then the crop of the top part of the image above the fawn's head is to tight a crop - needs a little room for the ears to be in. Again, just a snapshot taken with a flash (my assumption).

My 0.02¢ worth.

Cheers,

Wow...I really like the Tree and Sky and Squaw Valley....nice basket of heirlooms, by the way!

#2 and #4 are my favorites. I really like the squaw valley pic.

Looks like you have some exposure issues, #1 and #3 have blown highlights. #1 has nice midtones but the reflection of the main light is going white with no detail.

#4 is a cool capture, but the buildings at the top kill the mood for me. I was thinking maybe crop it something like this next time...

Thanks for the comments.

Bazooka, I like your crop. It really does distill the mood.

Tree and sky is actually a daytime shot.

Agreed that the tomatoes are a "snapshot". I can't quite explain why I like it so much. I think the colors are like prozac to me.
