My crazy schedule has finally eased up. I haven't posted in ages so I figured I would share a few recent shots of my resident Red Tails... Harvey and George

1 Testing out the D4 in low light so I dropped the shutter down to 1/1000th to get a little motion blur

2 One of the few days I actually had some light

4 Harvey will be really fun when he gets his Red Tail this year

Excellent set.
Love Harvey's colour.

Great set. How close are you to these birds to get such tight shots? I know you shoot with a converter and that G2 but do you crop them any? Seems like you're right under them!

Great set
They are all fantastic but #5 is just incredible.
fantastic captures.
Hawks are SO elusive- well done.

Really like #3.
#3 is the only one with the Tamron. Exif shows about 23 feet. #1 is the 300 f2.8, the rest are the 500 F4 I think. I'm close and these are barely cropped. #5 is not cropped at all and that is with the 500 on a full frame camera. You can tell by how shallow the DOF is.

Excellent set.
Love Harvey's colour.
Thanks! He is a very light hawk, I'm sure he will get darker on his second molt this year when he gets his adult plumage.[/QUOTE]

Looks like it actually focuses. Nice collection here!

Hey man they are all great as always. So how does the d4 compare to the d500 I'm still not sure if I made the right decision with the d500 but I love it I think I just don't like my lens haha

Excellent set, as always. Love 5.

Amazing! Especially #1 - very dramatic.
Thank you sir!

I can re-assure you that you made the correct choice. Advantages of the D500... Faster more accurate AF, Better controls, sharper images D4... Slightly better IQ IF you fill the frame and the AF nails the target. The D500 really is that good for bird photography.

Excellent set, as always. Love 5.
Thank you!
