Abandoned Subway

Explored an abandoned subway line in Rochester, New York yesterday. Brought along a friend for some quick portraits but wasn't sure what to expect so I packed light.. Just a camera and a reflector. Next time I'll go back with some lighting equipment and take more time. Looking for some quick feedback!

1. Not bad but you need more light on the subject.
2. Too loose. The model seems like an afterthought in this one.
3. Best of the lot by far. Love the expression and the background. Also like the way her torso bleeds into the darkness.
4. Looks over processed for my taste and there's no center of interest.

Cool location. You should go back with a light or two.

Thanks for the input guys! #3 is the only portrait from the session that I thought was any good so you confirmed my suspicions.

I'm definitely going back soon with some lighting gear and another model.. looking at possibly doing a shoot here with an aspiring fitness model

Location is awesome, I'd have a field day there.

All of your images, the SUBJECT is not exposed properly. You are undoubtedly shooting in matrix and not spot metering on your subjects face.

I'll give you a BIG tip. Choose the subject. Is it the girl? Then EXPOSE HER PROPERLY and damn the rest. Once you learn that, then you'll learn subject placement in relation to the natural light.

That location had a ton of awesome natural light. No need to use lighting or mods, although I would. More importantly, subject placement, exposure for your subject and off you go!

Yeah, #3 for the win, I love how the background is kind of playing as an extension of her hair.
In #1, I agree with @JohnnyWrench that it needs more light, but I also would have pulled her forward a bit or brought myself down a bit to separate her dark hair from that dark stripe it's currently up against. The top of her head is perfectly inline with the arc of the mark, so it's a little confusing to the eye.
