Advice from portrait photogs..

I think of printing and framing these two pics to use as a pair, but would like to check with portrait photographers. What do you think?

Looks like a cute set and I'm sure Mom would love them. I might try and give the girl a little more room under her arms if you can, and lighten the shadow sides of both faces if possible. Not a lot, but a little bit.

Even with the interesting background, I'm not feeling these as landscape portraits.
I think a little fill flash to soften up those harsh shadows might have looked nice too.
The concept is great though.

I am not a portrait photographer, but I agree with the above. And as for family photos, they would be great prints.

Thanks guys. It was shot in the Pierrefonds Castle in France during our holidays. And the porcupines are actually a symbol of Valois-Orleans dynasty and the Order of Porcupine, established by Louis I, Duke of Orlean. Not that it makes the pics any better Merlin was also shot there )

I think I the only person who loves "harsh" shadows.

I don't these are that harsh, just strong contrast. The transition from light to shadow isn't to harsh for me.
