thanks for for the advice everyone, I must admit I was slightly worried about them attaching via the tripod mount but most do seem to use this method.

I shall have a look at the ones suggested

has anyone tried the Holdfast money maker harness?

If you have concerns about it, that's understandable, but they are mounting points and designed to support the weight of the camera. I've used a pair BR 7 (now the "Curve") for quite a while, usually one on a body with a 24-70 2.8 and the other on a 70-200. As Sparky mentioned, any lens heavy enough to be concerned with will have it's own mounting point, and I find the system works well for me. The reason I didn't opt for a double is because there are times when I want to take one camera off, but not deal with clips, straps, etc.

the OP mentions "basic straps"...I've really liked the Optech brand of neoprene straps,, which reduce the felt weight by around 50%...that elastic neoprene material just reduces fatigue sooooo well...I'm surprised more people have not tried this brand's offerings. I am using an Optech on my D2x that I bought back in May of 2005. That camera's main lens is an old 80-400 VR lens, which is fairly heavy.

Derrell, thanks, I'm not at home and couldn't remember the name of mine. Googled the one you mentioned and that's the one I have. It is fantastic. And it really does reduce the weight. It also connects via the strap lugs (at least mine does). Feels much safer that way.

John, I agree. I've been watching it and am thinking of getting the clutch handstrap for photo walks either that or the cuff (which is pretty darn inexpensive.)

The belt clips is an option to use as well for anyone.

strap adjust looks nice. but man that thing would kill me and cut my neck.

the clutch looks cool (still flaws that I see), but don't you all just balance your camera with one finger on the grip while walking around like me?
