What's new

AgentDrex Has a New Camera!!!

Use the Canon for now, but make the switch before too long or those brown stains on your fingers will be a ***** to wash off.

Ahh c'mon. Everyone knows that Canon is "just better" ;) ;) ;)

BTW..... I still have a Canon film camera and I've got the G11 on my "When I Have a Spare $500" list. My first camera was a Pentax.

It is better...better than Sony...:sexywink:

Oh, BTW, in my avatar picture, right over there to the left, that's me...holding a CANON 5D with grip, to take my own self-portrait...

Nice comment sleist, that was great humor, thank you. But my logic goes this way: if I wanted to not be a sheep, I would start taking photos with my TL2, I figure there must not be all that many people who shoot with that camera for me to follow and baa behind. Either way I go; Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc., I'm bound to be sheeping along with someone. As reality may have it (or not depending upon your belief-structure), I was shooting with a Powershot this whole time anyways, so its not like all of a sudden I'm a Canon sheep.

Why do I want Nikon? I've seen short films made with it on youtube, the D90 specifically, and I fell in love with it since that is one of my main life goals as a hobby, to make short films.

I realize since I can apparently save money for something I want, I could save for the XL2. However, when I do my short films, I'm going to have a Camera A and a Camera B. A CANON XL2 is almost four-thousand dollars, so two is going to take awhile. I figure I'll skip the car chase scenes and fast movements and go for the cmos instead for doing these short films. Since cmos seems to be the cheaper alternative, and I'm not looking to professionally make films, I figure I could just stick with the D90, but since a new version is coming out, I could just save up for two of those, considering two Nikon D95s would be just a little under the cost of one XL2.

And I'm not even considering saving for the Panavision Phantom...what a camera...

I'm sure I'll be happy with this camera, and I'm sure I won't outgrow it anytime soon.
Thank you all for the comments...looking forward to hearing more of all of you...

I have the Rebel XT and I like it. It does what I need right now.

But when I have the extra money I am going to buy one of those big, heavy, beautiful White lenses with an "L" in its name!!!!!! May not make me a photographer, but it sure will make me happy!

It's great to dream!!

I am not saying this cause I use Canon, But if it is film you want.

Canon is the way to go.
Canon does 1080p
nikon does 720p

Nikon is used more because "its cute with a red triangle" but canon i feel is much more reliable.

Just did my first video with the Rebel XS...so much fun for me coming up...this does 720p and so will be good enough for the youtubes...

rebel xs does video? since when? :S I have the XSI which is 2 models up?

Didn't know that.

Learn something new everyday :)

No, Rebel XS doesn't do video...but I've been going to sourceforge and freshmeat for a looong time and pretty much download all the software I use from there...and sure enough, someone has developed a capture program for eos cameras: EOS Camera Movie Record

Don't listen to all those Nikon Canon haters, they're just afraid that once you use you XS, you'll fall in love with Canon, lol. :lmao:

I wish my camera had live view. That program's awesome.

ooh, I seen that before (the movie.)
I thought you mean you took movies from outside :P
Live view image quality is bad.
but 5dmkii for example has amazing video quality, the same is available from 500D / 550D

Most people wouldn't be able to tell what brand of camera you use unless they check the EXIF data. Go with the camera/brand that suits your needs/budget and you'll be fine. Your camera/brand is not the most important thing in your toolkit, anyway.
