AI doesn't make photographs, just really realistic looking drawings and cartoons. Technology has just gotten to the point where a computer can draw really well but it's still not capturing photons radiated or reflected by anything.

Sorry but this is a "here we go again" post. Define "AI in photographs"? Are you talking about word to text generated images or any number of AI Tools to edit photographs.

If the first option, even AI is smart enough to realize it's not photography when it produces the whole image. Here's an AI generated definition - "An AI-generated image is a visual creation where the user provides a text prompt, and the AI uses its understanding of patterns, styles, and relationships between words and images to generate a new, original picture." AI doesn't create all on its own, the creation comes from the user's direction.

AI editing "tools on the other hand "use artificial intelligence to "automate" and simplify tediting tasks in post processing photographs". No one bats an eye at using AI powered Topaz to clean up noise in an image. It's still "your" image, AI just helped you clean it up. It's no different with any of the other AI Tools. Almost everyone who post processes uses AI at some point.

@Jeff15 whether AI (text to image) or an AI generated images, it is against forum rules to post an image you dont own the copyright to. You can post a link to the image. Post reported

That is correct. You can provide a link to the image which is encouraged.

You are not prevented from sharing a link. Whether you agree or disagree with the rules, until such time that the admins decide to change or modify said rules then you agreed to follow them when you signed up. If you feel strongly that change is needed, then suggest you post your concerns in Feedback and Suggestions

Can you tell which part of this real photograph is AI Generated ??

This is a totally pointless conversation. AI Generated images are now so good that it would take a very well trained eye to spot AI imagery.

All digital photographs are edited multiple times before you get to Photoshop. The camera decides loads of things like colour and contrast before you even view it on the camera. If you import a RAW file into any editor the editor has a huge effect on what you eventually get to edit ( Demosaicing, also called debayering) and there is a huge difference between editors just in this single process. Compare Photoshop and DXO Photolab and you will see the difference.

Viewers vary wildly. Look at an image JPG or RAW in 2 different viewers they interpret in different ways.

If I add or subtract anything from a photo is it still a photo?

If I change a the colour of a wall, is it still a photo?

Great conversation but pointless.
