One of my all-time favorite films! There's at least a half-dozen rolls in my 'fridge right now. I'd like the image a lot more if I could see more ship and less large, dark builiding in the mid-ground.

Fred, sorry but you can do better, more interesting work. This pic is devoid of any dynamics, emotionally is flat.

First time in twenty odd years that I've used Ilford film: it won't be the last. Yes, the hut is in the way a bit; perhaps I should have walked along with the people a bit before taking the shot.

That's OK, it's a bit of a snapshot really I suppose (a little but not much thought went into it).

The second is much more interesting, although a little dark.

The first is graphically quite strong. Unfortunately the strong graphics don't really lead us anywhere interesting. We are not rewarded much for following the lines around.

The second is inherently more interesting, but graphically less strong. The composition is overall moderate to weak, but the content is quite rewarding.

Now to get the two together - strong composition, strong content Good luck!

Thanks. I might have had the scanner settings too low so maybe I'll run this through again and compare.

Of the two I certainly like the second best, there is quite a bit of noise in the shot and it's a bit dark, which is prob what's bringing the noise and perhaps you wanted the noise for texture, it is more interesting to look at, the emotion is a mystery, hard to know if she seeing someone off or take a trip herself and take a good look at the ship. Maybe the mystery is intended to be that way.

No noise there. photograph was taken with film, no digital camera. Fred didn't use a fine grain developer.

Ok gotch ya, I didn't realize that, I'm just used to seeing digital media.
